  16. This format utility will restore the primary defect list on ESDI drives
  17. used by the IBM PS/2 models 60 and 80.  The primary defect list is erased
  18. by COMPSURF's format when not using the ESDIFX.EXE disk driver.

  37. "Format.exe" will restore the primary defect list on ESDI drives used the
  38. in the IBM Personal System/2 models 60 and 80. Until now, users have not
  39. been able to run the low level format after Compsurf has been run on the
  40. drive. The low level format routine will report that it cannot locate the
  41. defect list and will terminate. "Format.exe" will restore the list so that
  42. the low level format will run. There is a revised ESDI driver available on
  43. NetWire as "ESDIFX.ARC" that will preserve the defect list. When this
  44. driver is used, "Format.exe" will not be necessary.
